Apple Pie
Consistently great apple pie
Equipment
- 1 pie pan 9"
- 1 Rolling Pin
- 1 sauce pan
Ingredients
- 8 medium apples granny smith, etc.
- 1/2 C butter
- 1/2 C white sugar
- 1/2 C brown sugar
- 1 t vanilla
- 1/4 t nutmeg
- 1 t cinnamon
- 3 T flour
- 1 T corn starch optional, makes the filling stand up better
Instructions
- Melt the butter in the cause pan
- add sugar, flour and spices, mix well
- bring to an "almost" boil, then simmer until thickened a bit
- Roll out one pie crust and form into the pie pan
- layer apple slices in pie pan
- evenly drizzle the filling mixture over the apples
- Roll out a second pie crust and cover the apple mixture, slicing a few vent holes.You can get fancy and create patterns, lattice, etc. or just cover it up. Pinch the crust around the edges.
- bake at 350F for one hour, or until mixture is bubbling and crust is golden
- remove from oven and cool
- serve with a scoop of Blue Bell ice cream
