Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup soft margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 TBSP cocoa
  • 3/4 tsp red liquid coloring
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 TBSP hot coffee
  • 1 7/8 cups flour (2 cups minus 2 TBSP)
  • 1 tsp solda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
 

  • Cream marg. & sugar. Add beaten eggs. Put cocoa, red coloring & hot coffee in a small bowl and mix, then add to sugar mixture & mix well. Mix flour, salt & soda together and add alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla. Bake in two greased and floured 8
  • pans at 350 degrees for 35 - 40 minutes (toothpick should come out clean). Cool on wire racks."
